Grass withers, flower fades

Sunday 2021.09.12

Today is the first day of a new biblical week.

In my NT reading today, I begin reading the First Epistle General of Peter, going through the first two chapters. 1 Peter 1:24 reminds us of the scripture written in Isaiah 40:6 - 8 (Septuagint), that says:

1 Peter 1:24 - 25 KJV
24 All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Isaiah 40:6 - 8 LXX Brenton
6 The voice of one saying, Cry; and I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
7 The grass withers, and the flower fades:
8 but the word of our God abides for ever.
