Reading from Exodus Chapter 19 LXX
Hear the voice of the LORD, keep His covenant, and you shall be to Him
- a special people,
- above all nations (Gentiles)
- a royal priesthood (priests belonging to a King, Messiah)
- a holy nation, set apart from the world.
Exodus 19:5,6 LXX
5 And now if ye will indeed hear my voice, and keep my covenant, ye shall be to me a peculiar people above all nations; for the whole earth is mine.
6 And ye shall be to me a royal priesthood and a holy nation: these words shalt thou speak to the children of Israel.
This verse is quoted in 1 Peter 2:9 KJV
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
