And Melchizedek brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of most high God.
And he blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abraham of the most high God,
Possessor of heaven and earth.
And blessed be the Most High God,
Which delivered thine enemies unto thy hand"
And he gave him tithes of all.

In this passage, we read that Abraham, ancestor of the Levitical priests, gave one tenth of his riches to Melchizedek, the non-Levitical priest.
